U.S. Rep. John P. Murtha Jr.,
D-Johnstown, and two generals with longstanding service to the Pennsylvania
National Guard have been inducted into the Pennsylvania Department of Military
and Veterans Affairs Hall of Fame. Murtha,
a former Marine who became the first Vietnam combat veteran elected to
Congress, was honored for his longstanding support of the Pennsylvania National
Guard and his efforts in securing funding, equipment and facilities for the
organization.
The DMVA Hall of Fame, established in 1998, recognizes
unique and exemplary contributions to the department and/or to the Pennsylvania
National Guard.
This award also recognizes the honor and prestige an
individual has brought upon the department, the Pennsylvania National Guard and
